Throughout natural history and in the mythology of many countries, the acknowledgment of the garden being a natural wellspring of spiritual and physical healing emerges repeatedly.  Realizing how natural herbal remedies have been with us throughout time, lends richness and depth to our connection with both the natural plants and the herbal remedies in which the plants are used in today.  In the effort to inspire a greater connection and belief in the natural healing potential of herbal remedies, BodyLogos® offers a monthly lesson focusing on individual natural ingredients used in the herbal remedies of WISEBEAUTY™ Active Beauty Line.
thyme
Thyme

In legend the thyme plant has been synonymous with courage and bravery.  This surely comes from its hardy, prolific, and perennial natural attributes.  Additionally, the little white and violet blossoms of the thyme plant led the ancient Greeks to associate thyme with natural elegance.  “The smell of thyme” was an expression of praise for one’s commendable natural style.

From the fifteenth to the seventeenth centuries, when waves of plague ran across Europe thyme herbal remedies were used as a germicide.  In World Was 1, the essential oil of thyme was used extensively as an antiseptic to treat soldier’s wounds.  Europeans have used Thyme essential oil for decades in herbal remedies, to purify the air in hospitals and patient quarters.
   WISETASTE Beat-A-Cold Tea

The natural antispasmodic qualities that are traditionally ascribed to thyme make it useful in alleviating asthma, stomach cramps, and whooping cough, according to the French herbalist Maurice Messegue′.  As a natural tea, thyme has been drunk for centuries at the onset of a cold, or to bring on menses.  In a compress, thyme natural teas have been applied to soothe nursing mothers’ sore breasts.

WISETASTE Beat-A-Cold Tea
To this day, herbalists use thyme in traditional ways.  For example, they make use of its natural soothing effects on the nervous system for conditions such as neurasthenia, depression, or lack of energy.  It is also recognized for its natural stimulating effects on the circulatory system, used for disorders such as vertigo, migraine, and ringing of the ears.

WISEBATH

Milled Oat Scrub

Like so many of the old-fashioned “simples” such as lavender and sage, thyme has long been acclaimed as a natural treatment for numerous ailments.  WISEBEAUTY™ uses this historic plant in their herbal remedies: for its natural internal properties you will taste it in WISETASTE Beat-A-Cold Tea and for its natural external effects you will feel it in WISEBATH Milled Oat Scrub.
